In this metro project, visualization of a design was made in order to evaluate the effect of viaducts to the environment. Different alternatives were generated and their effects to the environment were evaluated. Sketchup, Autodesk Infraworks and AutoCAD Map 3D were used to implement the work-flow defined below
Viaduct types were modeled using the SketchUp software.
2- Autodesk Infraworks – Model Builder
Model builder tool of Infraworks was used to generate the land model, current route, buildings, creeks and etc.
3- Urbano – Raster & Drawing Manager
Urbano’s drawing and picture reference manager was used to quickly determine the1/1000 scaled maps and insert them into the drawing file.
4- AutoCAD Map 3D – DWG to SDF
AutoCAD Map 3D was used on 1/1000 scaled maps to transform buildings with top elevation from CAD data to GIS data. Thus, .sdf files including elevation data were created.
5- Autodesk Infraworks – Connect Data
Model builder tool of Autodesk Infraworks was used to insert bridges and building models into the created model file.
6- Autodesk Infraworks – Proposal
Two proposals were created for two different bridges. Thus, same operation did not need to be done twice for presentation of two different types of bridges.
7- Autodesk Infraworks – Stroyboard Creator
Autodesk Infraworks’s Storyboard Creator was used to prepare a video with same video scenarios for two different proposals. Therefore, any reworks were avoided for two proposals.
